The Domino Cactus (Echinopsis subdenudata) is a small, slow-growing succulent native to Bolivia and Paraguay. Highly popular among beginners, it is best known for its spherical, dark green body dotted with evenly spaced, woolly white areoles that resemble the spots on a domino. It typically remains compact, making it perfect for windowsills. These are 3.25" pots.
Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light with a few hours of direct morning or late afternoon sun. Avoid intense, scorching midday heat to prevent the green body from turning yellow.
Soil & Potting: Use a well-draining cactus and succulent mix. A pot with drainage holes is essential to prevent root rot.
Watering: Follow the "soak and dry" method. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water significantly less during the winter dormant season.
Feeding: Apply a low-nitrogen, high-potassium fertilizer (like a diluted tomato feed) every few weeks during the spring and summer to promote blooming.
Temp: It is not frost hardy. Keep it in a dry, cool spot above 5°C (41°F) during the winter.
