Dandelion Seeds (Taraxacum officinale) are a staple food source for most commonly kept seed-eating ants, particularly Western Harvester Ants, Pogonomyrmex occidentalis. These ants can survive and even thrive based solely on these seeds. Tetramorium spp and Messor spp are also able to survive on a diet of solely seeds. Myrmica spp and Solenopsis spp will also take these seeds.
For a founding colony, 10g of seeds can last half a year
Note that the larger the colony, the more seeds will be eaten
