Description
An organic non-gmo blend of naturally sourced ingredients intended to support a healthy digestive tract and regulate bowel function.
Ingredients
Blend of Red, White and Green Cabbage
Cabbage is a fabulous source of L Glutamine (amino acid) which has been proven to promote a more alkaline environment in the stomach. It also supports immune cells in the lining of the digestive tract. Studies have shown L Glutamine to repair leaky gut syndrome and improve irritable bowel and diarrhea. It also strengthens and lengthens intestinal villi (ripples) that allow for optimal nutrient absorption. Cabbage is also high in choline, a B vitamin and lipotropic nutrient that is crucial in maintaining cell membrane structure. It is also a precursor for neurotransmitters. The body can synthesize some, but not enough for optimal health. Choline combines with Inositol to produce lecithin which keeps cholesterol soluble, detoxifies the liver and increases resistance to illnesses within the thymus gland. This gland stimulates the development of T cells crucial for immunity.
Cabbage is also high in Folate, a vitamin that is essential in tissue repair and is required for the constant regeneration of the digestive tract lining, as these cells are replaced every 2-5 days. Most importantly, cabbage is the richest plant source of S-methylmethionine, also called Vitamin U (for its ulcer healing qualities). Although the actual mechanism of SMM pathway is still unclear, it is used in supplements for both humans and horses to aid in ulcer healing.
Oat Flour (Stone Milled Oat Groats)
Oats are a high source of beta glucans which maintain regular rate of food passage and prevent undigested starches from getting into the hind gut. The hindgut flora are necessary for the fermentation of fiber. The presence of sugar or starches here can cause a rise of lactic acid producing bacteria leading to ulcers or other hindgut issues (acidosis). Beta glucans are also key in activating initial immune responses and eliminating toxins. Store bought flour is highly processed and contains minimal beta glucans.
Carrots
Carrots are a good source of folic acid (B9), which assists the liver in flushing out toxins and helps cleanse the colon.
Carrots are high in beta carotene, Vitamin A and antioxidants (phytochemicals) to combat free radical damage from regular metabolism or inflammation.
Hemp Meal
Hemp is a good source of digestible proteins, containing all 20 amino acids and all 9 essential amino acids. Hemp does not contain estrogen mimickers, gluten or lactose, and is trypsin free. It provides omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids in proper ratios and has proven anti-inflammatory properties. It is high in polyunsaturated fats, and low in saturated fats. The hemp meal flour we use tests less than 2 ppm THC, and is regulated and pedigreed by Health Canada.
Diatomaceous Earth
Fossilized remains of hard-shelled algae which acts as a natural detoxifying agent, killing internal parasites like worms and viruses, while cleansing the digestive tract.
